Description
This French Onion Ground Beef Skillet combines the classic flavors of French onion soup with hearty ground beef in a quick, one-pan meal.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
3 large Yellow Onions
1 pound Lean Ground Beef
3 cloves Garlic
1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
2 cups Beef Broth
1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
Salt & Black Pepper to taste
1 cup Gruyere Cheese
2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and caramelize for 15-20 minutes until deeply golden brow
- Push onions to one side and add ground beef to the other side. Increase heat to medium-high, browning beef for 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat
- Stir in minced garlic and thyme, cooking for another minute until fragrant
- Deglaze by adding Worcestershire sauce, scraping up browned bits, then add beef broth and Dijon mustard. Bring to a simmer
- Season with salt and pepper, then let simmer on low for 5-7 minutes
- If using, sprinkle Gruyere cheese on top and melt using a lid or under the broiler for a few minutes
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately
Notes
Ensure Worcestershire sauce is gluten-free if necessary.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
