Description

French Onion Ground Beef Sliders are a quick and hearty dinner option that combines the flavors of classic French onion soup in a convenient slider format. Made with ground beef, caramelized onions, and melted Swiss cheese tucked into soft Hawaiian rolls, these sliders deliver a gourmet experience without the lengthy cooking time.

Ingredients

Scale

1.5 lbs Ground Beef
2 Large Yellow Onions
1 Pack (12-count) Hawaiian Rolls
8–10 Slices Swiss or Gruyere Cheese
1/4 Cup Beef Broth
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
4 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Dried Thyme
Salt and Pepper to Taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). While the oven heats up, slice your large onions into thin rings. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with a tablespoon of oil or butter. Toss in the onions and cook until soft and golden brown, about 10-12 minutes
  2. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the ground beef and brown it completely. Drain excess fat but leave a little for flavor. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, pepper, and remaining beef broth, and let it simmer for two minutes
  3. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally without separating them. Place the bottom half in a 9×13 inch baking dish
  4. Spread the cooked beef mixture over the bottom buns. Layer the caramelized onions on top, then cover with cheese slices. Place the top half of the rolls back o
  5. Melt butter and mix in garlic powder. Brush the tops of the rolls with the butter mixture
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and buns are slightly toasted. Slice into individual sliders and serve hot

Notes

Caramelizing onions can be sped up with a pinch of sugar and baking soda during cooking.
