Description

Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks are a budget-friendly twist on the traditional cheesesteak, using ground beef to create a flavorful and easy dish that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale

1.5 lbs Lean Ground Beef
1 large Yellow Onion, thinly sliced
1 large Green Bell Pepper, sliced into strips
3 cloves Garlic, minced freshly
8 slices Provolone Cheese
2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
Salt and Black Pepper to taste
4–6 Hoagie Rolls, toasted for best results
1 tbsp Olive Oil, for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook them for about 5-7 minutes until they are soft and slightly charred. Remove them from the pan and set aside
  2. In the same skillet, add the ground beef. Break it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Continue cooking until the beef is no longer pink
  3. Drain any excess grease from the pan, leaving just a little for flavor. Stir in the minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant
  4. Return the cooked onions and peppers to the skillet with the beef. Toss everything together so the flavors meld
  5. Reduce the heat to low. Arrange the beef mixture into portions roughly the size of your hoagie rolls. Place a slice (or two!) of provolone cheese over each portion. Cover the skillet with a lid for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is gooey and melted
  6. Split your toasted hoagie rolls. Use a wide spatula to lift each cheesy portion of Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks filling and tuck it into a roll. Serve immediately while hot!

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.

Use Cheez Whiz for a more traditional Philly experience.
