Description
Strong black tea brewed with cracked whole spices and ginger, warmed with milk and finished with a small frothed-milk cap.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Water
- 1 stick Cinnamon stick
- 4 pods Green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
- 1 inch piece Fresh ginger, sliced
- 2 cloves Whole cloves
- 2 bags Black tea bags
- 1 1/2 cups Whole milk, divided
- 2 teaspoons Granulated sugar (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan combine 1 cup water, 1 cinnamon stick, 4 lightly crushed green cardamom pods, 1 inch sliced ginger and 2 whole cloves. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook about 5 minutes.
- Turn off heat, add 2 black tea bags and steep about 4 minutes. Remove bags without squeezing and strain out whole spices and ginger. Return strained tea to pan.
- Add 1 cup of the divided whole milk and, if using, 2 tsp sugar; warm gently about 3 minutes until steaming, not a rolling boil. Divide tea mixture between two heatproof mugs.
- Warm remaining ½ cup whole milk separately and whisk or froth about 3 minutes until a soft foam forms. Spoon half over each mug. Taste and note actual strength and volume for a kitchen test.
