Description
This One-Pot Ground Beef Wellington Skillet is a simplified version of the classic dish, prepared in a single pan while preserving the rich flavors. It's nutritious, cozy, and perfect for any dinner occasion.
Ingredients
1 lb Grass-Fed Ground Beef
12 oz Cremini Mushrooms
1 medium Yellow Onio
3 cloves Garlic Cloves
2 tsp Fresh Thyme
1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
1/2 cup Beef Bone Broth
1 sheet Puff Pastry
1 Egg (for egg wash)
Sea Salt & Black Pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C)
- In a large oven-safe skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it into small crumbles
- Remove cooked beef but keep the juices in the skillet
- Add diced onions and finely chopped mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté until moisture evaporates and they turn golden brow
- Stir in minced garlic and thyme, cooking until fragrant
- Return beef to the skillet, add Dijon mustard and bone broth, and simmer for five minutes
- Lay the puff pastry over the beef mixture, trimming as necessary, and brush with egg wash
- Score the pastry on top to allow steam to escape and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golde
Notes
Make sure to sauté the mushrooms longer to eliminate moisture for a crisp bottom.
Keep the puff pastry cold until ready to use for a flakier texture.
Allow the dish to rest for five minutes after baking before serving.
