A simple and tasty side dish that brings out the natural sweetness of onions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces yellow onions, cut into thick wedges
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic (optional)
  • 1 bouillon cube (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the yellow onions into thick wedges.
  2. In a pot, add the onion wedges, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Add enough water to the pot to cover the onions.
  4. If you want, add garlic, bouillon cube, and butter for extra flavor.
  5. Bring the pot to a boil over medium heat.
  6. Once boiling, lower the heat, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until the onions are tender.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs or parmesan if desired.

Notes

Make sure to cut the onions into thick wedges so they hold up while cooking. You can adjust the seasonings according to your taste.
