Description
Four sparkling cranberry-orange drinks with rosemary syrup and no alcohol.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/4 cup Water, for syrup
- 1/4 cup Granulated sugar, for syrup
- 2 sprigs Fresh rosemary sprigs, for syrup
- 1 cup Unsweetened cranberry juice, chilled
- 1/2 cup Fresh orange juice, chilled
- 2 tablespoons Fresh lime juice
- 1 1/2 cups Plain sparkling water, chilled
- 2 cups Ice cubes
Instructions
- Put 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 2 fresh rosemary sprigs in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer just until sugar dissolves, about 3–5 minutes; turn off heat and steep about 10 minutes. Remove sprigs, strain and cool the syrup about 10 more minutes. This yields a small amount; measure what remains after reduction.
- In a pitcher stir 1 cup chilled unsweetened cranberry juice, 1/2 cup chilled fresh orange juice and 2 tbsp lime juice with 3 tbsp cooled rosemary syrup. Taste this concentrated base; reserve any remaining syrup rather than pouring it all in by default.
- Just before serving, stir 1 1/2 cups chilled plain sparkling water gently into the pitcher. Divide 2 cups ice among four glasses and pour equal amounts of drink over the ice. Do not shake carbonated water in a sealed shaker.
- Serve promptly for the intended fizz. Record the actual syrup yield, sweetness with the selected cranberry brand and volume per glass in a kitchen test. If more syrup is needed for a different juice, update the measured card rather than making an untracked adjustment.
