Description

A flavorful twist on traditional boiled eggs, perfect as a snack or appetizer, featuring a delicious garlic and spice sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 eggs
  • 1½ tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup garlic, minced
  • 2¼ teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 3 teaspoons light brown sugar
  • ½ heaping teaspoon onion powder
  • 1½ teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ – 1 teaspoon red chili flakes, or to taste
  • ¾ cup chicken bone or vegetable broth, low sodium
  • ¼ lemon, juiced
  • Kosher salt, optional
  • Flat leaf parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare a bowl with cold water and enough ice cubes to create an icy bath. Set it aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring enough water to cover the eggs to a rolling boil. Carefully drop the eggs into the water and boil for 7 minutes for a runny yolk or 7½ minutes for a more set yolk.
  3. After your desired cooking time, remove the eggs from the pan and place them in the ice bath for 2 minutes or until cool enough to handle.
  4. Under slow running water, peel the eggs and place them on a paper towel to remove excess water. Set the eggs aside for later use.
  5. In a large skillet over a low flame, melt the butter. Add minced garlic, stir to combine, and cook on low heat for 1 minute.
  6. Add all the seasonings and stir to combine. Cook for another minute.
  7. Add the bone broth and increase heat to medium-high. Cook the mixture for 6 minutes.
  8. Once the sauce has reduced and slightly thickened, add lemon juice and a splash of water, then stir. Season to taste with kosher salt if necessary.
  9. Place the eggs in a bowl, pour the boil sauce over them, and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Great as a standalone snack or appetizer, serve alongside crusty bread or over rice for a heartier dish. Adjust spice levels according to preference.
