Turkey Sausage Breakfast Patties

Turkey Sausage Breakfast Patties. Skillet-cooked maple-sage ground-turkey breakfast patties, portioned evenly and cooked to 165°F. The formula and timing below are working estimates for a future kitchen trial, not a claim that a batch has been made.

A small, savory breakfast patty

Turkey sausage breakfast patties use ground turkey, sage, a little maple syrup and simple seasoning rather than a premixed pork sausage. Eight even patties make it easy to plan a brunch plate or breakfast sandwich without promising a nutrition figure.

The mixture is an untested editorial formula. Turkey fat content, patty thickness and skillet material affect browning and the time required to reach 165°F; the thirty-five-minute estimate is only a planning start.

Season without overmixing

One pound ground turkey is divided into eight roughly two-ounce raw portions. Distribute the tablespoon of maple syrup evenly, then add rubbed sage, garlic powder, salt and pepper. A brief mix helps avoid compact rubbery patties.

Maple adds a subtle sweetness but can brown early on a hot surface. No cayenne or red chili is included, so a spicy label or red-speckled image would misrepresent the recipe.

Packaged ground turkey can include other ingredients. Check labels and handling; an allergen-free claim cannot be inferred simply because the short list has no obvious wheat or milk.

Ingredients for 8 patties

IngredientAmountUse
Ground turkey1 poundThawed; divide into eight.
Pure maple syrup1 tablespoonSmall sweet note.
Dried rubbed sage1 teaspoonBreakfast-sausage seasoning.
Garlic powder1/2 teaspoonSeasoning.
Fine salt3/4 teaspoonSeasoning.
Ground black pepper1/4 teaspoonSeasoning.
Neutral cooking oil1 tablespoonDivide between skillet batches.

Step-by-step method

  1. In a bowl combine 1 lb ground turkey with 1 tbsp maple syrup, 1 tsp rubbed sage, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 3/4 tsp fine salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Mix only until seasonings are distributed; divide into eight equal patties about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Heat half of 1 tbsp neutral oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add four patties with space between, and cook approximately 4–5 minutes per side, lowering heat if the maple browns before centers cook.
  3. Check the center of each representative ground-turkey patty with a food thermometer for 165°F. Transfer cooked patties to a clean plate. Repeat with the remaining oil and four patties, checking their centers too.
  4. Serve eight patties warm. Record actual diameter, thickness, browning and cooking time after a kitchen trial; avoid transferring raw-meat utensils to the cooked plate.

Form thin, cook gently and measure

Flatten eight equal patties to about half an inch thick. Work in two uncrowded batches with half the measured oil for each. Medium heat should brown the surfaces without scorching the maple before the center cooks.

Turn carefully and check the middle for 165°F. The FDA lists that endpoint for poultry; color is an unreliable test. Move cooked pieces to a clean plate, not the surface used for raw patties.

The two-batch twenty-minute cook is approximate. If a smaller skillet requires more rounds, revise the total and note it in the finished card.

If they dry out or brown unevenly

Overworking and long high-heat cooking may make lean turkey dense. Form gently, lower heat if edges darken quickly, and use the thermometer instead of adding unmeasured liquid.

If the patties fall apart, check whether portions were pressed evenly and the actual grind of turkey. A binding egg would add an allergen and make a different formula; do not slip it into a tip without revising the card.

Farm and Dairy has a related turkey-maple-sage patty reference. It does not validate this exact patty size or timing.

Brunch and leftovers

Serve on a platter or alongside a separate waffle or biscuit recipe without claiming those foods are included in the measured yield. Test reheating quality and check current leftover guidance before a specific storage window is printed.

A later turkey-sausage breakfast enchilada can use its own measured filling; this patty article should not be treated as the same URL or a duplicate breakfast casserole.

Patty questions

Can I use ground chicken?

That changes the named protein and likely texture; develop it as a measured variation while retaining the poultry endpoint.

Why use medium heat?

The small maple addition can color before turkey cooks through at high heat.

How do I know they are done?

Check thick centers with a food thermometer for 165°F.
